About this Presentation
Noted airshow performer and multiengine instructor Doug Rozendaal takes a deeper dive into flying light twins than you probably learned in that three-day multiengine course all those years ago. For experienced twin engine pilots and those new to multiengine aircraft this discussion will cover:

  • The drill: How ritual makes sense out of chaos.
  • The VMC Demonstration: How and why the benign yaw event done in training becomes a violent snap roll in practice.
  • Partial power loss: How to identify and deal with the insidious partial loss of power as compared to total engine failure.
  • Turning into the dead engine: Slaughtering the sacred cow that turning into a failed engine is deadly.
  • Answers to viewer questions

Viewers will be able to type in their questions to be answered during the event. We’ll explain how to do so at the beginning of the webinar.

Although this American Bonanza Society program is oriented toward pilots of Beech airplanes, the discussion, techniques and procedures described are valuable to the pilot of any airplane.

 Presenter
Doug Rozendaal got his pilot certificate in a Cessna 150, one dollar at a time. He learned to fly hauling freight in the DC-3 and Beech 18. An Airline Transport Pilot, FAA designated pilot examiner, and Certified Flight Instructor for both Instrument & Multiengine, he also holds Single and Multi Engine Seaplane ratings, a glider rating, and type ratings in the Citation, CitationJet, B-25, DC-3, PBY, TBM, and authorizations in the P-51, P-40, F4U, F6F, Zero, and T-28, including the “all makes and models, single and multi-engine piston powered” endorsement. He holds a surface level aerobatic waiver in 8 different types of WWII fighters and Sport aircraft. Doug has served as chairman of the board of the Commemorative Air Force and several terms as the chair of the Safety Committee at the International Council of Airshows. His aviation experience is over 10,000 hours in over 250 different types of airplanes.  He is an aviation writer published widely and speaks nationwide about aviation safety.
