About this Presentation
Widespread adoption of new technologies has changed how we plan flights and operate our aircraft during all phases of flight, especially when IFR. But our training and habits often don’t reflect the reality of how we’re using EFBs, glass cockpits, and sophisticated autopilots. The ease with which we can build a route, check the weather and then fly a trip can ironically leave pilots unprepared for the inevitable twists and turns of a typical flight.

This webinar includes scenarios that:

• Focus on strategies for modern IFR flight
• Suggest tactics for using those technologies in different situations
• Provide techniques for smooth departures, verifying progress enroute and arriving gracefully

Although this American Bonanza Society program is oriented toward pilots of Beech Bonanzas, Debonairs, Barons and Travel Airs, the discussion, techniques and procedures described are valuable to the pilot of any airplane.

Presenter
Bruce Williams is a flight instructor based in Seattle. A general aviation pilot since the mid-1970s, he is now a check instructor at Galvin Flying at Boeing Field, conducting Part 61 and Part 141 stage checks for private, instrument, commercial, and flight instructor candidates. As a BPPP instructor, Bruce also trains Beechcraft Bonanza pilots. He especially enjoys working with IFR pilots who fly with today’s advanced avionics, like those in his updated 1989 A36. During a 15-year career at Microsoft, Bruce worked on six versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator. He’s the author of two books about using PC-based flight simulation to complement flight training.
